Bootcamp vs. Personal Trainer

Well my Soror invited me to her Bootcamp Live Now Fitness in Jessup at The Soccer Dome! It was a nice change of pace! The pros are the group is very supportive and engaged. Its a nice mix of ages, races, fitness levels and I enjoyed that aspect of a group dynamic that is different from a class like kick boxing or step. It adds a bit of competition because the people (about 40 people) are broken into 4 groups and you move through the various workouts against each other. The day begins with jogging around the soccer field twice. The we broke in groups and did relay races from one side of the field to the other and go through an obstacle course which included mini hurdles and the ladder looking thingie that football drills are done with. Then we did some more old school calisthenics like jumping jacks, sit ups, squats, etc. It was a good workout! I then went to SOCAROBICS! Its been a minute! It started kinda slow but some songs I knew came on and I got into it for real! Lawd my hips hurt lol After that I had my 1 hour personal training session with Charles.

Now if I had to pick I pick Charles! I think the group exercise concept is excellent but I think I have become spoiled and use to the one on one attention. I can cheat if no one is watching! Anytime I complain about how many reps I have to do ie., "15 REPS?!?!" whined Cylia "Ok 20 then!" *smile* says Charles lol that's what I need! Its what has worked for me. But it is good to work out in a group because you have people cheering you on and clapping for you and well its a good alternative especially if personal training is out of your budget. I mentioned Charles to two ladies at bootcamp one is getting married and said she joined this group to lose weight but would like a personal trainer for more individualized attention. I recommended Charles highly of course and hopefully they'll check him out!

So ultimately the choice is yours based on your needs, level of accountability, how you feel about working in a group, and budget! Either way its a way to be healthier and happier so try a bootcamp and see if its for you!

Four weeks from hell...

Nov 2010

April 2010

Ok well maybe not hell but damn near close to it! Its been a very very bad four weeks. Bad in terms of my quest for consistent workouts, bad in terms of my food choices, bad in terms of my attitude, and over all situations outside of work which is really the sad part about it. I need to detox from some people and things lol I am learning how to say no and that's a good thing but the stress surrounding that is too much. I like food and I eat when I am stressed and well its just not a good combo. On the bright side I am back with Charles working out and getting back on track with my twice a week personal training. We had some great work outs one day we did boxing, stairs, weights, and the trampoline!! Personal training is the best money I've spent on MYSELF in the last year even vs. that Nicole Miller dress!! :-) I am hoping the bf will join me in the New Year because he's been off his workout game lately! He was doing great then all of a sudden nada. We'll see its been 6 months and his goal was 50 pounds and he was making great progress. My goal is to be encouraging and supportive and not a nag because people have to get to that place on their own but health and fitness is extremely important to me and that's something I have been upfront about since our first conversation. We all have highs and lows but we need to both get back on track. I even spoke with his Mom who wants to lose weight and she mentioned Curves and I told her about water aerobics she said her Doc recommended it for her years ago. I think I will get her a 3 month pass to Curves and I told her she can join us at Weight Watchers in the new year. His Dad is very tall and slim so he really doesn't talk too much about weight issues! lol Food pusher lol
Anyway I finally fit back into my apple bottom jeans but as you can see the change from April to November is apparent but I am getting back on track. I went back to Weight Watchers after a 3 week break and I was wayyy up at WW this week in fact 12 pounds! So I am almost back to square one. I lost as much as 17... No bueno! I had the best intentions of getting back on track Saturday but I had several events and well there was lots of food and I went for broke! I missed the gym because of a meeting I had that ran late and I was going to go walking with the bf but it was too darn cold and he wasn't interested in going to the gym. Again no bueno. Sunday wasn't much better and the next thing I know its Monday morning again. I went straight home made it by 5:30pm and just veggied out.
I feel very tired and sluggish and I know that it is a result of not eating right and not exercising enough. Well I got these groupons for Hot Yoga apparently back in April and they expire this week! So I am going to get in 3 of the classes and try it out. It will be a nice change of pace and maybe something to shock the system into submission. So I'll post tomorrow on the outcome!! Today is an new day no pastries, over stuffed sandwiches, no not counting points, no not exercising & other foolishness! I need to commit to 30 days of activity! Back to basics like walking the stairs at work and using my treadmill at home!! Please join me!! I have 28 pounds I need to lose by December 31st to get back to my initial goal weight! Time for LOCK DOWN!
Thanks!!!! :-)

A Tale of Two Driver's Licenses

Well I done lost my driver's license yet again! Most may not know but I've lost my driver's license more than the law will allow...seriously... like I was told the last time they added me to the watch list and I had to go to the main MVA if I lost it again lol some threat that turned out to be....lol...so my newest license went missing and I been trying to hold out hope that it would show up but it didn't and with this new hands free cell phone law in Maryland cops are pulling people over left & right! So I broke down and went to the MVA. For my Nu Yorka peeps that's the DMV lol

Anyway lo and behold I found my old old one of course and I was shocked when I looked at the two of them side by side. See below!

Left is the new one & the right is from a few years ago. It expired in 2008... so that plus when I got the Tiffany's necklace that I was pressed to have it in my driver's license photo lol makes me think this was maybe 2006/7. Yikes!

I don't even feel like I look like the same person...like... at all!

WOW

I still got work to do but this gave me pause to reflect on my progress and keep moving forward! I skipped WW this weekend and I was sick as a dog on Sunday and so I didn't workout plus my Mom was in town so Saturday I spent shopping with her. I am still in a process of purging old clothing its soooo hard I have 3XL items I refused to throw away my sister is NOT pleased lol I will revisit them in a few months and maybe then I'll be able to let them go. I did find my "before" pants OMG I'll do the classic weight loss shot soon enough and post.

This week I have a AKA meeting tonight, A Junior League meeting tomorrow, my bf is off Weds & Thursday so we'll get together and then its Friday! Saturday is hectic with chapter meeting and a few meetings after the meetings then its Sunday! Where does the time go? My sister has Wiii Fit I may need to get her to hook that up this week!
